Cold Box core making has become the industry standard over the last few years because its breakdown properties at the casting shakeout and its reclaimability, both in attrition and thermal systems.

--[ LOST FOAM CASTING ]--
SMC has worked with such companies as the General Motors Corporation (Saginaw Grey Iron), Ford Motor Company (Windsor and Cleveland) and the Saturn Corporation (Springhill) on both prototype and production Lost Foam casting lines. Additionally, SMC helped in the design and manufacture of the associated sand reclamation systems, including bulk storage and pneumatic transporters, for the Lost Foam process for these facilities.

--[ NOBAKE MOLDING ]--
SMC has designed and installed many Nobake molding loops, from simple non-powered ovals, to automatic indexing turntables. SMC can designed, manufacture and installed all elements of the molding system including sand hoppers, binder tanks, continuous mixers, compaction tables, rollover/draws, etc. As with the reclamation system, SMC has developed spread sheets to help in the design of the loop and pouring lines to prevent bottlenecks in daily operation.
